I really want to lose some weight but I’m just not motivated enough right now…
Sound familiar?
Well, let me tell you a quick story about myself and my wavering motivation...
Last week, I had a day where I was due to train but I just could not be bothered, I wanted the outcome (the endorphins etc) but I just had zero motivation to do it!
So, what did I do?
Well, rather than tell myself to stop being so weak and just get on with it, I accepted that at that moment in time, I just wasn’t feeling it, so I gave myself permission to skip the workout on the proviso that…
… I had to complete my 10 minute warm up that I run through before every session. After I’d completed that, if I still didn’t want to train, I’d bin it off and feel absolutely fine about it…
GUESS WHAT HAPPENED?
Yep, I did the entire thing and it actually ended up being a pretty good session!
So, what’s my point here?
Well, if you hadn’t already guessed it, when it comes to most things in life that we don’t necessarily want to do but know that we probably should do, the washing up for example...
THE HARDEST PART IS JUST GETTING STARTED!
So, let this be a reminder that motivation is not always going to be around, so don’t wait for it in order to get started and certainly don’t let your weight loss goals be determined by it. Just get started with something small and so easy it’s impossible not to do!
